Ingrowing Toe Nails
Ingrowing toenails can be caused by a number of reasons, from ill-fitting shoes, injury or incorrect cutting of nails.
When a splinter of nail grows into the skin, it becomes red, swollen, extremely painful and very often becomes infected.
But I can help.
Antibiotics are usually prescribed to reduce the infection, and this gives temporary relief, but the shape of the nail is unchanged.
Without removing the spikule, the toe will not improve.
I use sterile disposable instruments to resect the edge of the nail. If this cannot be done conservatively (due to it being too painful), then a local anaesthetic can be administered to the toe before this is done.
The cost of this procedure is £250 and includes all instruments, anaesthetic and dressings plus I follow up with a visit 24 hours after to re-dress and check everything is healing nicely.
